Session 1: What is Poverty?
Session 2: Kingdom vs. Empire
Session 3: Sabbath Economics
Session 4: Empire On The Brain
Session 5: Mine, Yours, Ours
How do I know if I'm being greedy? Should the church be preaching the gospel or fighting for social justice? Can't giving people something for nothing hurt them in the long run? Is "black lives matter" a good thing or a dangerous thing? What about Marxism? Critical race theory? Corporations? Many of us are looking for a measuring stick to hold up to the prevailing political and economic ideologies of our day. What if the God who gave us principles and rules to govern our sexuality, family life and personal behavior also gave us standards and principles to govern our economy? Is it possible that Jesus sent us to make disciples of all nations so that they would govern their economy according to His principles? In this class we will introduce students to the fundamental of ending poverty as specified in scripture.

When we look at the Gospels we see that there is only one thing Jesus' disciples specifically asked him to teach them- How to pray. It seems to us that the disciples of today should have the same humility. Have you ever heard of people praying all night long and wondered how it was they did that? Or heard of great prayer warriors who prayed until they were done and then saw the miraculous answer to their prayers? Is there a right and wrong way to pray? Is there a better way to pray? Why was prayer so important to Jesus, the Apostles and the early church?
We believe that the Lord's Prayer is an invitation into the practice of prayer. Like the practice of medicine, we will never have it fully figured it out. There will always be a need to practice, but there are principles necessary we understand before we start.
We believe the Lord's Prayer is not so much a prayer to be prayed as it is a format to be followed. As such, it's important that we really think through the concepts that are behind each section of the prayer. We have divided the prayer up into 7 sections and given ourselves 8 sessions to explore this important topic together.
Our plan is to offer this class at least 6 times a year and after every 3rd class to do an all night prayer retreat. Whether you are new to prayer or a 40 year veteran we invite you to join this class as we learn this practice together.
Biblical Wholeness
Upcoming Class
2nd and 4th Thursdays.
7pm - 9 pm.
April - May
Should Christians see counselors? Are there underlying principles in the mental health field that are spiritually dangerous. Is there questions that field would ask us that would make us more spiritually sound? What is the Biblical definition of being mentally healthy? How do you know if your church and family are emotionally healthy? What do you do if they're not?
There has been much more focus in recent years on the emotional health of the church, its leaders and its culture. But what does the Bible say about all of this? In this class we will be looking at the foundational concepts we need to jump into this discussion with our eyes wide open.
The class is four weeks long and lays the foundation for participants to begin an ALIGN groups. ALIGN is a group self assessment exercise done with a community of believers to help each individual identify the false messages that hinder them from being secure in Christ.
